COIMBATORE POLICE PUT UP ADDITIONAL CHECK POSTS


To curb smuggling of sand, DAP and cattle during Pongal

The Coimbatore District Rural Police have stepped up vigil by putting up additional check posts at seven locations to curb smuggling of sand, Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP), cattle and other illegal activities during Pongal.

Sources said that these measures have been taken up to restrict the movement of anti-social elements and ensure they do not take advantage of the reduced police presence during festival season.

Further, the check posts will also prevent the dumping of biomedical and other wastes from others districts into Coimbatore.

Temporary basis
The additional check posts have been installed at Kodangipalayam at Sulur, Neelipalayam in Annur, Chenniandiamman Temple area near Karumathampatti, Odanthurai in Mettupalayam, Chinnakalipatti in Sirumugai, Komangalam near Pollachi, Dasanaikenpalayam in Negamam police limits. These checks posts will be on a temporary basis.


At present, there are nine permanent check posts in the rural areas of Coimbatore including at Walayar and KG Chavadi.
