STUDENTS OF CHENNAI SCHOOL WIN DEBATE AT NATIONAL LEVEL

A team from Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB), K.K. Nagar, were adjudged winners at ‘Debating Matters India 2013,’ organised by British Council and Institute of Ideas, United Kingdom.According to a press release, Akshay Venkataraghavan and Arushi Nayar argued against the motion ‘Capital punishment: India should abolish death penalty,’ at the national finals held in New Delhi on November 29 and 30.
Akshay was also adjudged the best speaker.Students of Convent of Jesus and Mary, New Delhi, were the runners-up.Twelve schools from each region competed at the regional finals and eight schools qualified to the national finals.
NEXT ROUND IN LONDON

Arushi, Akshay, Abhinaya Raman, Aditi Balaji, and K.S. Adithyakumar, the team from PSBB, K.K. Nagar, will go along with their teacher to London, in October 2014, for the next level of the competition.
