The first train of the Hyderabad
Metro Rail (HMR) will be coming from Korea during the third week of May 2014.
Stringent trial runs will commence from June 2014 till February 2015, before
the service on the first stage of the Nagole-Mettuguda sector is thrown open to
the public on March 21, 2015, said V.B. Gadgil, Chief Executive and Managing
Director of L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH) here on Sunday. All the
rolling stock, engines, automatic fare collecting machines, mobility cards,
etc. will be coming from Korea. This is the first Metro Rail, in which the
advanced radio frequency signalling system is being used since the time gap
between two trains would be just 72 seconds.Though the trains are capable of
travelling at 80 kmph speed, an average speed of 38 or 39 kmph would be
maintained on all the three sectors, said Mr. Gadgil.
The three corridors of L.B.
Nagar-Miyapur, JBS-Falaknuma & Nagole-Shilparamam would be given colours -
blue, green and red for the convenience of passengers and three inter-sector
change facilities would be provided at MGBS, Ameerpet and Parade Grounds, he
explained. He was addressing the South Indian Maharashtrian Association (SIMA)
35th Formation Day celebrations.Mr. Gadgil said though people were talking
about the faster progress of Metro Rail work, he was personally not happy with
pace of work being taken up.“I want the speed of works to be doubled up.
“During the next three to four months, sensitive installations would be taken
up,” said Mr. Gadgil. Once the Nagole-Mettuguda line works are completed, focus
would be on Miyapur-S.R. Nagar line, he added.Earlier, South Indian
Maharashtrian Association president S. Raghvendra and secretary Sudhinder Kumar
spoke about the association and its activities conducted during the last one
year.
