MODIFIED KOCHI METRO WEBSITE LAUNCHED

The modified website of Kochi Metro Rail was launched on Tuesday. The interactive web portal www.kochimetro.org was revamped as part of the information push policy of Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) and will provide visitors with the latest updates on Kochi Metro Rail. All the major information, including traffic regulations will be available on the site and the public can also add their suggestions through the idea box added to the new website. Transport Minister Arayadan Mohammedofficially launched the website.Earlier, the minister also convened a review meeting to assess the progress of the project. Expressing satisfaction over the progress of the project, Arayadan said the first reach of the project comprising 13 km, from Aluva to Palarivattom, is expected to be completed by December 2015 while the project will be commissioned by March 2016.Among the other conclusions made at the meeting, the minister said that he will request the government to fast-track the widening of the Thammanam-Pullepady road and the Vyttila-Petta road for diverting traffic during the construction of the Kochi Metro Rail.

The District Collector assured the minister that the land acquisition process for the project will be completed by the end of August 2013.So far, out of the total 40 hectares required for the project, around 18 hectares have already been handed over to KMRL. A total of  11 units of government land needs to be handed over for the project construction, and it was decided at the meeting to fast-track these proposals so that the land will be made available to KMRL by the end of August 2013.
