The seventh edition of the SBI
Bengaluru Midnight Marathon 2013 will kick start at 6 p.m. on December 14 with
‘the flying Sikh’ Milkha Singh as its brand ambassador. Organised by the Rotary
Bangalore IT Corridor (RBITC), the theme for this year’s marathon is “Bhaag
Bengaluru Bhaag,” and is expected to attract over 10,000 runners across the
various races, including athletes, professional runners, runners from the armed
forces and corporates.A release said that 7,000 people have already registered
for the event. The key events include the full marathon, Carewel half marathon,
target 10k run, Schneider Electric IT city fun run, Airbus corporate relay cup,
community relay by Nambiars and the women’s relay cup.
This marathon, participants can
expect to run alongside personnel from the defence forces as RBITC has
convinced the authorities to give their troops the green signal to participate
in the event similar to last year. And the number of woman participants too is
on the rise, with over 2,000 women registering this year.The organisers have
arranged for facilities on the route and otherwise, including space for parking
at KTPO and in and around the venue, drinking water, rehydration drinks,
glucose, toilets, food court and a flee market.Those who are still keen to
